I think, I’ve had this WordPress blog idea in mind for about 5 years now but never actually launched anything.

This is purely because I know I’ll start, and then I’ll forget/get too lazy to continue with making any regular commitments to writing anything. It’s also rather stressful to think of something interesting to say and I don’t feel like the hassle of dealing with grammar/punctuation and spelling…but hey ho, I guess it doesn’t need to be perfect. It’s just a blog right? A journal? I can write what I like and if you don’t like the way I write or what I am writing about well, then it’s your choice to continue reading.

Ok now that I have put things into perspective it feels a bit more like I could get used to this idea of writing some updates occasionally. Let’s face it, I don’t Facebook or Instagram or tweet or LinkedIn or anything like that so it’s unlikely anyone will need to follow the stuff I decide to share here anyway, but for me it might be nice. Who knows, my memories will fade and maybe one day I’d like to remember the paths I’ve taken along the way.

So here is to the start of a new little journey! When that of all places starts in Dubai! A bizarre place for a South African to live in – let alone a South African who has grown up in a little village with gravel roads, donkey carts, and only one set of traffic lights that never work (thanks load-shedding). Plus I’m a nut about nature and being outside and Dubai is not conducive to that – way too hot and it’s a pretty packed location with very little nature to escape into. In fact none that I’ve seen yet?? 😳😳! Im also a marine biologist – working with manta rays, which are not to be found in the waters surrounding Dubai!! So what the hell brings me here?

Ok – I’m bored of writing now. I’ll continue in the next blog…’what brings me here’ stay tuned…hopefully it won’t be a year before I pick up on that :)!
